Please read our FAQ page at WWW.PIRATTERY.COM/RESCUE This page tells of our adoption procedures, and will answer many questions that you may have, and our surrender and adoption forms are located there too. We ask you to please send your adoption survery/application along with your inquiry if you are adopting. If you wish to surrender your rat, please print, complete and sign the Surrender form and bring it with you at the time of surrender. Thank you!

This website is dedicated to the rescue of the Fancy (pet) Rat, & finding them new forever homes. Rat Reruns is a privately run and no-kill rat rescue. We happily provide Rat care and health information, and adoption opportunities. We welcome the opportunity to visit pet supply stores and other venues to help educate people about the Pet Rat. Rat Reruns Rescue takes in unwanted, abandoned, and sometimes abused pets from humane agencies as well as private owners. Our rescue operates on my own income and the few donations we may receive. I am a member of South Michigan Rat Fanciers, and Ohio Rat Fanciers Association. and North American Rat registry. We were told when applying that we do not make enough money and have enough expenses to be granted 501c3 status. I had never realized there was any limitation.

I, Kim, our director, am going to college! I will be a full time Vet Tech student beginning June of '07! I hope that this will help give our pets the best in immediate medical treatment/care. I am very excited about this, and thank my friends and family for all their support. Most of them have said "It's About time!!!"

Pets of the Month - May

Introducing our Pet of the Month...Esmerelda and Georgia!
These two girls must stay together. Esmerelda has inoperable pituitary cancer. She is an absolute darling and loves life. So long as her quality of life is still good, we ask she be kept comfortable. If her quality of life diminishes, she should be humanely euthanized. Georgia is a healthy blue hooded girl. She's active and playful. They are both around a year old.




Who We Are

Rat Reruns is a rescue and educational organization, which offers any support we can to owners of fancy pet rats. We offer public and classroom pet awareness and educational demonstrations. We offer information on pet care, behavior, training, and rescue organizations. When we have room for more rescues, we rehabilitate when necessary, and put our pets up for adoption after quarantine against illnesses. We are located in Worthington, Ohio. We raise money with various fundraisers, and those funds are used to pay for the medical care, feeding, bedding, housing, and other expenses that are incurred with rescuing pet rats. Euthanization is something that only occurs when there was no other medical option and/or no quality of life. All our pets are given every chance for a new life with a new family. I travel one hour from homebase to collect/drop off a pet. If you are too far away, or we don't have the critter that fits with your family, there are always other rescue programs here on petfinder with ratties in need of a home!

Adopting a friend

*Visits with our pets and adoptions are by appointment only, as we run the rescue from our home and work a regular job too. Please call or email the person they are with if you would like to adopt now, or be put on our waiting list for good homes. The waiting list is recommmended especially if you are looking for a specific colored or aged rat. Baby ratties are rare in rescue, and if you are looking for a good breeder for babies please visit and click on the breeder referral links at pirattery.com We have a contract that states clearly our expectations of potential adopters, and an application that helps match you with the right pet for your family.

Surrendering your pet

Owners surrendering their pets must sign a form that gives our Rescue legal custody of the animal , and that gives us access to their vet records. We ask for the cage and all supplies with it, so your rat's home is familiar to it/them, and when possible we ask for a $35 surrender fee to help cover the veterinary exam and other expenses involved in caring for your rat(s) until such time as they are adopted

Introductions to your pets must occur in your own home, after your adoptees have been quarantined in your home for three weeks minimum. Introductions cannot take place here for health reasons. Many rat illnesses are airborn and we must protect our residents from possible exposure. Please do not handle any other rats or rodents prior to (on the day of) your visit to our home. Thank you for understanding.
